How can I use Arlo to monitor my organization or business?

What can Arlo offer?

Arlo offers a variety of cameras, subscription plans, and software features that can help you monitor your organization or business.

Arlo business plans cover 5-40 cameras. If you need to use more than 40 cameras, Arlo recommends that you purchase one or more Enterprise subscription plans, which cover 40 cameras each, and purchase a smaller plan to cover the remaining cameras. You can upgrade or downgrade your subscription at any time, and a prorated refund is provided automatically for any unused portion of your monthly subscription.

All subscription plans include access to the following features:

  • Cloud video storage for at least seven days
  • The ability to add other users to your account, with two different levels of privileges plus per-camera control over who has access
  • Downloadable, shareable HD video clips
  • At least three months of customer support

The free basic subscription plan includes three months of customer support and seven days of cloud recordings, while paid subscription plans include unlimited customer support and 30-60 days of cloud recordings. For more information about business subscription plans, see What Arlo business subscription plans are available?.

For Arlo Q and Arlo Q Plus cameras, which are designed for indoor use only, you can purchase a per-camera upgrade to enable Continuous Video Recording (CVR). For more information about CVR, see What is continuous video recording (CVR) and how do I get it?.

How can I put Arlo to work in my organization or business?

The following deployment examples demonstrate how Arlo can help you monitor three specific types of organizations, although they apply to other industries as well. Click one of the links below to jump to an example deployment:

Law Enforcement

A police department's IT team can manage the department's Arlo account centrally, granting and removing per-camera access for individual officers, administrators, and other colleagues as needed. Different privileges can be granted to different people. Videos that are needed as evidence or for future reference can be downloaded for permanent storage on the police department's computer network.

A combination of Arlo Pro, Arlo Go, and Arlo Q or Arlo Q Plus cameras can provide the right mix of coverage for indoor and outdoor use as well as permanent, temporary, and remote placements. Battery charging stations, glare-reducing camera skins, spare batteries, and other accessories can help to minimize both human effort and camera downtime.

Construction

A construction company's IT department or office staff can manage the company's Arlo account centrally, granting and removing per-camera access for individual site managers, supervisors, project managers, crew members, operators, security staff, administrators, and others as necessary.

Arlo Go cameras, which connect to the mobile network instead of connecting over WiFi, can be used anywhere in the mobile carrier's nationwide data coverage area, so you can install security cameras in areas with no electricity, WiFi, or Internet access. For use on construction sites, Arlo recommends glare-reducing camera skins, available in black, green, or camouflage. The Arlo Go camera's LED and speaker can be completely turned off to avoid attracting attention in situation that require more covert monitoring. You can also easily move the cameras once a site no longer needs monitoring.

Arlo Q and Arlo Q Plus, which require WiFi and Internet connectivity and must remain plugged in, provide good options for permanently placed indoor cameras in high-traffic areas. Arlo Pro Wire-Free cameras, which can be plugged in or used wire-free, can be placed indoors or outdoors within WiFi range of the indoor-only base station.

Restaurant or Retail Stores

A franchise's or store's IT or office staff can manage the company's Arlo account centrally, granting and removing per-camera access for individual managers, crew members, security staff, administrators, and others as necessary. Alternatively, each store manager can administer the Arlo account for that store and grant access to office staff, district managers, and other members of the store management team.

Arlo Q and Arlo Q Plus cameras with a continuous video recording (CVR) upgrade are perfect for monitoring high-traffic indoor locations such as the following:

  • Cash registers
  • Checkout lines
  • Safes
  • Offices
  • Drive-thru windows
  • Customer service desks
  • Kitchens
  • Expediting areas
  • Hostess stations and waiting areas
  • Dining areas
  • Liquor storage areas
  • Lockers

Arlo Pro Wire-Free cameras are perfect for monitoring medium-traffic or low-traffic indoor or outdoor areas that are within WiFi range of the indoor-only base station, such as the following locations:

  • Dumpster enclosures
  • Stock rooms and storage areas
  • Back doors

Battery charging stations, glare-reducing camera skins, spare batteries, and other accessories can help to minimize both human effort and camera downtime for Arlo Pro Wire-Free cameras.
