Why aren't my Arlo Security Lights turning on during the day?

If you are receiving notifications and the orange motion detection icon is showing next ot your Arlo Security Light in the Arlo app, your light is not turning on because its surroundings are too bright.

Your Arlo Security Light’s ambient light sensor automatically measures the amount of light in its surroundings and determines if your Arlo Security Light should turn on when motion is detected. If it’s still bright outside, your Arlo Security Light doesn’t turn on, but you still receive a motion detection notification. You can always turn your Arlo Security Light on or off manually using the Light ON / OFF button in the Arlo app. 

Every Arlo Security Light has its own ambient light sensor. If one light is in a dark environment and another light is in a bright environment, only the light in the darker environment turns on. If you create a rule to turn on one light when another light detects motion, each Arlo Security Light checks its own ambient light sensor. Depending on where you place the lights, one or both of the lights might not turn on if the lights’ surroundings are not dark enough.

The ambient light sensor helps save your Arlo Security Light’s battery by turning on the light only when necessary.

If your light is not turning on and you do not see the orange motion detection icon next to your Arlo Security Light in the Arlo app, your light might not have a good connection to your Arlo Bridge.
