Is Arlo Pro 3 backwards compatible with my existing Arlo system?

The Arlo Pro 3 camera is compatible with VMB5000, VMB4540, VMB4000, and VMB4500. It is not compatible with VMB3500 or VMB3000.

To take full advantage of Arlo Pro 3’s new features, such as 2K video we recommend pairing your Pro 3 camera with an Arlo SmartHub. To find out what you can do when you connect an Arlo Pro 3 camera to each Arlo base station, see the following.

  • VMB5000 and VMB4540
When you pair your Pro 3 camera with the VMB5000 or VMB4540, you can experience Local 2K Live Streaming, Local 2K Storage, and Auto Zoom and Tracking (up to 1080p).
  • VMB4000
When you pair your Pro 3 with the VMB4000, you can experience Local 2K Live Streaming and Local 2K Storage. You will need a USB device to enable Local 2K Storage.
  • VMB4500
Pairing your Pro 3 camera with the VMB4500 lets you stream and record in 2K video resolution.
  • VMB3500 and 3000
The Arlo Pro 3 camera is not compatible with either of these base stations.
