When you first add the Arlo Bridge to your Arlo account, the Arlo app checks for firmware updates. If a bridge firmware update is available, the bridge updates itself before you can proceed to the next step. During the update process, the bridge’s status LED goes through several blinking color transitions while the bridge updates, restarts, and connects to the Internet again. The Arlo app screen displays a confirmation if the update succeeds or an option to retry if it fails.
Do not unplug the Arlo Bridge while a firmware update is in progress. Do not unplug the Arlo Security Light or remove the battery while a firmware update is in progress.
During regular use, Arlo Bridge and Arlo Security Light firmware updates are scheduled to happen automatically between 12 p.m. and 2 p.m. Updates happen during the day so that they don’t interfere with normal night-time usage. If a firmware update fails, Arlo tries to update the device again the next day during the same time window.
