How does my Arlo Pro 3 or Pro 4 camera use 2K?

The Arlo Pro 3 camera allows you to record 2K videos in three different ways: local live streaming, motion cloud recording, and recording to a USB device.

  • Local Live Streaming
If you enable 2K live streaming in your Arlo Pro 3 video settings, 2K live video automatically streams when you tap or click the play button in the Devices tab of the Arlo app or website.
For more information on 2K streaming, visit How do I stream in 2K with my Arlo Pro 3 camera?.
  • Motion Cloud Recording in 2K
You must have an Arlo Smart subscription to activate motion cloud recording in 2K. If you have motion cloud recording activated in your Arlo app, Arlo Pro 3 can record in 2K when it detects motion or sound. The 2K recording is sent to the cloud where you can view it in the Library or your Arlo app.
Note: Even with an Arlo Smart subscription, Auto Zoom and Tracking will only be shown in 1080p.
  • Recording to a USB Device
You can record 2K videos from Arlo Pro 3 to a USB device by inserting a USB device into your Arlo SmartHub. For information about viewing videos on a USB device, visit How do I view videos saved on a local storage USB device?.
