What do I do if Arlo Baby camera video is too dim while using night vision?

Arlo cameras display an array of red dots around their lenses when their infrared LEDs are on. The red glow indicates that the infrared LEDs are active. These LEDs aid the night vision capability of the Arlo cameras.

Arlo Baby’s infrared LEDs are much dimmer than the night vision LEDs on other Arlo cameras. Bright infrared LEDs can distract babies and keep them from sleeping, so Arlo Baby’s infrared LEDs are almost invisible, but still provide good low-light performance.

If your Arlo Baby camera’s night-time videos are not bright enough, follow these steps to troubleshoot the problem.

To troubleshoot when Arlo Baby videos with night vision are too dim:

  1. Make sure that night vision is turned on:
    1. Launch the Arlo app or log in to your Arlo account at my.arlo.com.
    2. On the Devices page, tap or click above your Arlo Baby camera’s video feed and select Device Settings.
    3. Tap or click Video Settings.
    4. Make sure that the Night Vision slider is all the way to the right and a green background displays behind it.
  2. Turn off all lights in the room and start streaming from Arlo Baby to see if the LEDs on the front of the camera are on—the red glow indicates that the infrared LEDs are on and active.
    If you do not see two glowing red dots, contact Arlo Support to speak to an expert.
  3. Make sure that no lights are pointing at the camera or shining near the camera, especially in front of the camera.
  4. Make sure that the camera is not pointing at a nearby reflective surface, such as a tabletop, wall, mirror, or window.
  5. Try moving the camera to a different location.
  6. If the video from your Arlo Baby camera is still too dim, try turning off your Arlo Baby camera’s status LED.
    If you turn off your camera’s LED, it might be difficult to troubleshoot problems with your Arlo Baby camera, but you can always turn the LED back on in your camera’s Device Settings. To turn off your camera’s status LED:
    1. Launch the Arlo app or log in to your Arlo account at my.arlo.com.
    2. On the Devices page, tap or click above your Arlo Baby camera’s video feed and select Device Settings.
    3. If you are using a computer, click > next to Camera LED.
    4. Make sure that the Status Light slider is all the way to the left and a white or gray background displays behind it.
