If you don’t have an Arlo Smart subscription, then you’ll receive general motion notifications within a few seconds after your Arlo device detects motion. If you have an Arlo Smart subscription, the Arlo app takes about 5-7 seconds to send motion detection push notifications to your mobile device. This is because Arlo’s algorithms take time to review the motion and determine what type of object was detected (people, vehicle, animal, package, or other) before alerting you.
General motion notifications are faster because the Arlo app doesn’t take the extra step of determining what type of object caused the motion.
While general motion notifications are sent faster, they might lead to many unwanted alerts. You might receive notifications about tree branches blowing in the wind, squirrels running, or insects landing on the Arlo camera lens.
