My Arlo Pro 2 camera is overheating while in a very warm environment; what do I do?

Your Arlo Pro 2 camera might overheat if the following conditions happen at the same time:

  • Your camera is in a very warm environment: 113° F (45° C) or hotter.
  • Your camera’s battery is inserted.
  • Your camera is plugged in to the AC power adapter.

When your camera reaches a critical temperature under these conditions, it shuts down for safety reasons. The camera powers on again after it reaches a safe temperature.

To avoid the problem of the camera overheating, we recommend that you choose one of the following troubleshooting methods:

  • Move the camera to a cooler location:
    1. Remove the camera from direct sunlight.
    2. Move the camera to an area that doesn’t get as hot.
      We recommend choosing a location no hotter than 104° F (40° C).
  • Operate the camera without a battery.
Removing the battery allows the camera to operate in environments as warm as 161° F (72° C).

If the camera is operating without a battery, the camera will shut off if power goes out.
