How many bars of mobile signal strength does Arlo Go need and how do I check it?

Your Arlo Go camera uses the mobile network to connect to the Arlo cloud. Your Arlo Go cannot connect over WiFi like other Arlo cameras do. For best results, Arlo recommends placing your Arlo Go camera in a location where it has at least three bars of mobile signal strength. If your Arlo Go camera is in an area with consistently low mobile signal strength (two bars or less), you might experience these problems:

  • You are sometimes unable to view your camera live, or the video stream fluctuates.
  • You are sometimes unable to watch recorded videos right away.
  • Notifications are sometimes delayed.
  • Your battery depletes more quickly than usual because your camera spends so much time attempting to reconnect to the network.

If your Arlo Go is connected to the mobile network and to the Arlo cloud, you can follow these steps to check your Arlo Go's mobile signal strength. If your camera is offline, see My Arlo Go camera is offline; how can I troubleshoot it?.

To check your Arlo Go camera's mobile signal strength:

  1. Launch the Arlo app or log in to your Arlo account at my.arlo.com.
  2. Tap or click Settings > My Devices and select your Arlo Go camera.
  3. Scroll down to the GENERAL section.
Mobile signal strength displays in this section. If signal strength is consistently less than three bars, consider moving your camera to a location with better signal strength.
