How do I safely remove a USB device from my Arlo Pro base station?

It's important to safely remove USB devices from your Arlo Pro base station. If you remove a USB device while information is being recorded on it, the USB device might become permanently unusable or the files on the USB device might be corrupted.

If you remove the only USB device that is connected to your Arlo Pro base station, USB recording is disabled until you connect another USB device. If another USB device is already connected when you remove the enabled USB device, USB recording is automatically enabled on the other USB device instead.

To safely remove a USB device from your Arlo Pro base station:

  1. Launch the Arlo app or log in to your Arlo account at my.arlo.com.
  2. Select Settings > My Devices and tap or click the Arlo Pro base station to which your USB device is connected.
  3. Select a base station.
  4. Under Local Storage, tap or click Storage Settings.
Note: Connected USB devices are numbered in the order that they are inserted into the base station. If USB devices are not already named, the first device inserted is called USB Device 1 and the second one is called USB Device 2. These numbers do not necessarily match the port numbers on the base station.
  5. Tap or click Safely Eject USB Device.
  6. Wait for the Unmounting USB device progress message to close, then remove the USB device from your Arlo Pro base station.
