How do I use position mode to aim my Arlo camera?

Position mode allows you to quickly and easily view what your camera sees. Using position mode, you can make sure that your camera is positioned to monitor the precise area you want.

Position mode is available only when the camera is not streaming, recording motion, or in a mode that includes motion detection.

To place your camera in position mode:

  1. Launch the Arlo app or log in to your Arlo account at my.arlo.com.
  2. Tap or click Settings > My Devices.
  3. Select the camera that you want to place in position mode.
  4. Tap or click Device Utilities > Camera Positioning.
    The camera starts streaming video.
Note: Position mode streams video as fast as possible, without buffering, so that you can aim the camera while watching on a smartphone or computer and make near real-time adjustments to the camera position. This means that you might see lower quality video while in position mode.
  5. Adjust the camera until you have a good view of the area you want to record.
If you cannot get a good view of the area you want to record, you might need to move the camera or camera mount and try again.
