To charge the Arlo Essential Security Camera 2K/HD (3rd Gen) and Essential XL Security Camera 2K/HD (3rd Gen) use the included indoor USB charging cable. To charge the camera outdoors, use the VMA5700 Essential Outdoor Charging Cable.
Note: The battery on the Arlo Essential Security Camera (3rd Gen) is non-removable.
Go to the Settings page for your Arlo camera to view the battery percentage:
- Launch the Arlo Secure App.
- Tap Devices.
- Tap
The battery percentage is displayed.
USB charging
The USB charging cable that came in the box with your camera is for indoor use only. You must dismount your camera and bring it indoors to charge it with the included charging cable. Connect the charging cable to a 5V, 2A power adapter. Power adapters less than 2A will take longer to properly charge the camera.
To charge the camera with the included indoor charging cable:
- Remove your camera from the mount.
Note: You do not need to unscrew the mount from the wall. You only need to unscrew the camera from the mount. - Bring the camera indoors.
- Pull the flap at the bottom of the camera to reveal the USB charging port.
- Plug the USB charging cable into the camera.
Note: The included charging cable is not meant for outdoor use. To charge your camera outdoors, you must use the VMA5700 Essential Outdoor Charging Cable.
Solar Panel Charging
Use the VMA6600 Essential Outdoor Solar Panel to keep your battery charged with direct sunlight.
