How can I optimize mobile signal strength for my Arlo Go series camera?
Last updated: 08.01.2025
Arlo Go and Arlo Go 2 cameras use a SIM card inside the camera to connect to a cellular network. Arlo Go 2 can also connect over Wi-Fi, like other Arlo cameras. For best results when connecting to the cellular network, Arlo recommends placing your camera in a location where it has at least three bars of signal strength. Cellular or LTE coverage fluctuates based on network traffic and weather conditions. If you place your camera near the edge of a coverage area, your connection weakens or drops whenever the cellular network is carrying a lot of traffic in that area. Heavy rain, thunderstorms, and high humidity can also weaken your connection.
To check your Arlo Go or Arlo Go 2 mobile signal strength:
For the Arlo Secure App experience with Feed:
- Launch the Arlo Secure App.
- Tap Devices.
- Select your Arlo Go or Arlo Go 2 camera.
- Tap
- Check the signal strength to the right of Cellular Network.
For the Arlo Secure App experience with Library:
- Launch the Arlo Secure App.
- Tap Settings.
- Tap My Devices.
- Select your Arlo Go or Arlo Go 2 camera.
- Tap Signal Strength.
Note: If signal strength is consistently less than three bars, consider moving your camera to a location with better signal strength.
If your camera is using a mobile connection in an area with low mobile signal strength (two bars or less), you might experience these problems:
- You are sometimes unable to view your camera live, or the video stream fluctuates.
- You might experience lag when waiting for recorded videos to be uploaded to your Arlo Feed or Arlo Library.
- Notifications are sometimes delayed.
- Your camera battery depletes more quickly than usual because your camera spends so much time attempting to reconnect to the network.

To optimize mobile broadband connectivity for your Arlo Go or Arlo Go 2 camera:
- Check your service provider’s data coverage map for the area in which you want to use your camera.
- Check the mobile network signal strength in the location where you want to use your camera after setup.
- Place your camera in an area where it has at least three bars of signal strength. In an area with low signal strength, camera battery life is much shorter because the camera spends so much time trying to connect to the network.
- Make sure your camera is at least 6 feet (2 meters) away from any major electrical equipment, large metal or concrete objects, or other sources of signal interference.
Note: For information about roaming, contact your mobile service carrier. Some service providers do not allow roaming. In cases where roaming is allowed, it comes with additional charges and often requires additional services from your service provider.
